Since community councils were introduced, Balloch has managed to form one. We are allocated 8 community councillors and must have a quorum of 4 to make decisions. We currently have 5; most are employed, some with young families.
This is a voluntary role which ensures the community has some influence with the Highland Council, Police, Scottish Water and other statutory bodies. There are many issues which can impact our lives and we are doing our best to represent you but we need more of you to assist.
There is a real chance that the Community Council will cease to operate unless we can co-opt 3 more councillors to share the tasks. Some issues that will influence our lives are the new A96, phase 2 of the Chapelton development, the community woodlands, community land at the school and housing development on our green spaces.
